An Ambitious Mission
It has been said over and over that the content is the king when it comes to web page design. I totally agree. However, the difference is, while almost everyone stops there, I do not! If there is a king then there needs to be a queen. As the old saying goes - It takes two to tango. For a good web page design we need the two: Content (king) and Presentation (queen). And when they start their masterly crafted tango, then we can have a good web page design, which will attract and hold attention!
Consequently, this site will be dedicated to the search of different ways, tools and/or techniques - using (X)HTML & CSS, with which a web designer can improve the presentation of any given web page.
However, during the long journey, that lead to the opening of this site (close to 4 years as a spare-time project), the Mission Statement kept on growing and getting more ambitious:
- Document and create awareness to the Fundamental Flaws of Browsers, - (X)HTML & CSS, with hopes of shaming the Browsers into correcting them in a timely fashion.
- Document, challenge and create awareness to W3C kowtowing to the Browsers, giving them total freedom to stay in the dark ages.
- Promote the creation of a truly independent body of experts (financially or otherwise), which will be able to formulate the next generation of Web Standards that will take us into the 21st century, from the stone ages we are stuck in, at the present.
- Formulate and post some well thought-out suggestions for this new body of experts for consideration, at least conceptually.
- As a stop-gab, come up with innovative and imaginative ways that will by-pass the inadequacies of browser at any level, while documenting and exposing these inadequacies.
Well folks, more points may be added to this list as we go along.
Please note that.....
At this point, and in the foreseeable future, this site will be focusing on issues related to (X)HTML & CSS, solely.
A Bit More Optimism
As I have mentioned earlier, this site is a spare-time project, and my spare time is very scarce lately. I am hoping that others will also contribute to the growth of this site, in the form of thoughtful and innovative ideas, articles and/or studies.
